Happy New Year, everyone, and congrats on a year full of progress! Please take a minute to post some of your proudest achievements, along with some ambitions you hope to chase down in the year to come. Keep your goals S.M.A.R.T. Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant, Timely.
“Get stronger” is too vague – set some firm but achievable numbers to strive for. “Improve my Fran time” isn’t specific, dial it in. If you previous time was 6:40, set it for under 6 next time. “Eat better” isn’t measurable. Set goals such as “eat 100 grams of protein a day” or “no sugar on weekdays” to keep yourself accountable. Be ambitious but realistic! If your best snatch is 205, you aren’t going to get to 300 under a year, so don’t set goals so unreachable that you are destined for disappointment.
If you need any help, don’t hesitate to ask! We are glad to help!
Don’t forget! Tatum lifts this morning and Ali lifts tomorrow morning. Early the live feed here!
We will be hosting a gymnastics seminar at GS on Saturday September 24 with olympic and UGA gymnast Courtney Kupets Carter, her husband Chris Carter, and 10-time NCAA national champion coach Suzanne Yoculan Leebern. This will be free for Georgia Strength members and $25 for non members.
Any non members must sign a waiver and pay their guest fee here.
Anyone looking for some pro tips to improve their muscle-ups, handstand walks, back flips, etc this is the place to do it!
Everyone get rested, and please RSVP to our event on Facebook HERE! Drink extra water, go to bed early, watch a few inspirational videos and think lightning quick thoughts! Work on some mobility, get in to those stubborn spots and do some stretching, rolling, and massaging
You don’t have to be big, just quick and assertive! Watch the lockout on the second snatch – elbows straight make arms strong
REST & RECOVERY / LIFTING MEET SIGN UP
Please make a concerted effort to improve your recovery today, whether it be a power walk and lacrosse ball session, some moderate swimming, yoga, etc. Our Spring Barbell Fling is next Friday, so please be sure to sign up in the comments below! Put your name under the “reply” section of whichever session you plan to attend, and please be sure to arrive early to get warm and loose so we can start the heats on time. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to ask. Also, we will need a few willing helpers to assist with changing weights for each session, so any and all help would be greatly appreciated. If you want to lift at 4:30 then hang around to change weights for the 6:00 session, please put a reply post under each comment below. Thanks!
As we close another year in books, we’d love to hear from each of you as to how your year of training stacked up to your expectations. Hopefully most of you who didn’t post 2015 goals last January had them written down somewhere, so that you can look at how far you’ve come and be proud of your improvements. Please take a minute to post some of your most fulfilling fitness achievements from this year, and write down a handful that you would like to strive for in 2016. Feel free to include any and everything that you want to make happen: strength benchmarks, CF wod times you want to break, gymnastics skills you want to conquer, nutrition/lifestyle goals you want to be accountable for, etc. Be ambitious but be realistic.
